A particular bill is being passed in the actual House of Representatives which aspires to try and inform stockholders regarding the matter of the earnings and payment plans that are given to the management of nationally contracted businesses. People in fact believe that the bill should be able to do well in the House of Representatives, but it isn’t obvious how the Senate will manage this bill. In addition, is the bill the best way to go for the modern USA? Or should we have to first assess more meticulously the economical conclusions that may take place with such a program?

The White House has already officially registered its resistance to such a program, nevertheless the backers happen to be unconcerned. Numerous believe that the actual compensation plans of the major officers of publicly traded companies should be tied to the overall performance of the business as well as the officers independently, rather than to the figures which the officers wish to obtain.

If the bill is able to get through, power can be obtained by stockholders who’ve been unhappy with the method in which several enterprises happen to be transacting within the last years, with decreasing income and unsightly enterprise methods while the officials are receiving large levels of income, added benefits and also stock options. In the long run, the executive acquires greater than hundreds as well as thousands of dollars in profits when their particular enterprise isn’t even delivering well, which for many stockholders seems to be prejudiced.

Most people theorize if the executives within the enterprise would consider getting stringent on assigning costs in case their personal income were linked to their fulfillments rather than their desires. Moreover, stockholders are beginning to express their issues with many different enterprises failing to provide results even though their executives are now being paid considerable amounts of income as well as raises being provided each year.

In addition, President Bush has urged executives of these corporations to stand up and assume their responsibilities and obligations. However, he also remarked that the federal government shouldn’t have any involvement in any way to this particular issue. Many American people also agree with this choice and choose not to let the governing administration restrict the private businesses sector. They wouldn’t want the government describing just how much they’ll earn money from their own job.

Even though people don’t want the government to invade their work and their businesses, numerous Americans still demand to put a number of measures into place to have the executives of large multi-million and multi-billion corporations accountable.

Furthermore, almost everyone has declared this concept as something common. Actually, this concept happens to be being applied in countries such as Britain, Australia and Sweden. This makes for a more interesting concept that people speculate if the bill could succeed through the Senate as well as the House of Representatives during the time of voting.

With time being the main factor, there is scheduled to be a vote on the matter in the House of Representatives in the really near future, which is quite definitely anticipated to pass without much opposition. It’s the next thing in the Senate that is where it starts getting sticky with individuals unclear about the outcomes after the voting in the Senate starts. Nevertheless, with growing support from the people, lots of whom work with businesses affected by this issue, there’s scope for a large political effect, that will undoubtedly make the consequence interesting.

The United States figured in numerous important wars in its background.  It engaged in war during the Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and many others.  However, its most atypical involvement in warfare was in the one identified as “The Cold War.”

The Cold War lasted for many years.  It was called the Cold War as this particular war didn’t have any battlefield nor deployment of troops.  It simply was comprised of hostile silence between the United States and the Soviet Union from the mid-1940s, after World War II, and extended to the early portion of the 1990s.

The U . S and the Soviet Union were both Allied nations throughout the Second World War, meaning they were joined in fighting common foes, mainly the Axis nations.  Unusually, the hostilities involving the two nations started with the United States’ creation of the atom bomb close to the end of World War II.  Shortly after, the Soviet Union developed its own nuclear weapons.  The immensity of the destructive strength of nuclear bombs gave any nation that possessed them so called ‘superpowers.’  A heightened feeling of distrust came into being between the two nations of the other’s possible mistreatment of their military powers.  They directed their nuclear weapons at each other as a muted menace of retaliation if ever one particular nation made a decision to attack the opposite.

It was a staring competition that lasted almost half a century and created a huge strain on both economies.  Both nations needed to sustain “parity” of their nuclear weapons so neither land got more than the other thus tipping the balance of power and providing one combatant an unfair advantage.  This had been a peculiar logic in that the two nations held adequate weaponry to destroy the earth many times over but nonetheless they insisted on “having parity” through the entire Cold War.

Both countries were quite definitely aware that a nuclear conflict involving them would have resulted in the total destruction of existence on earth and must never be permitted to happen.  It would be useless for each nation to bring about the damage of the planet itself, yet, both stubbornly declined all routes towards peace-making.  No one acquiesced to stop their manufacture of nuclear arms.  The Cold War proceeded unmitigated decade after decade.

So instead of executing fights directly, the two countries fought each other through small wars all over the world.  The Soviet Union, working with China, happily added to the humiliating loss in Vietnam the U . S . suffered.  But the United States after that flipped around and armed the Afghan Mujahideen which lead to the defeat of the Soviet Union in their occupation of the country.  From proxy battles, the space race, and infrequent face offs such as the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Cold War continued for decades testing the will and resolve of both countries to never look away and give the other the extra edge.

Ultimately the stress on the economies of both countries took its toll in the early 1990s, specifically in the Soviet Union since the hassle of keeping such an expensive and useless war forced the Soviet financial state into failure and the empire cracked.  The U . S . had triumphed in the Cold War by pure will to survive and stubborn refusal to cave in.  This is usually a seldom spoken element of the American spirit but it is one that the Soviets realized to their own catastrophe not to test.  Hopefully no other “superpower” will ever think they are equipped to try it again.

LeninĂ¢€™s New Economic Policy and the USSR

Mikhail Gorbachev (1931- ) wasn’t the first to introduce Perestroika – the economic liberalization of the communist system along capitalistic lines.

Throughout the Russian civil war (1918-1922) the Bolsheviks implemented what they known as “War Communism” (1917-1921), the militarization of the economy. Between 1916 and 1920, industrial output plunged by around four fifths. Grain harvests in both 1920 and 1921 disastrously lost, triggering widespread starvation, claiming five million lives. A number of rebellions of sailors broke out, most famously in the Krohnstadt naval base.~In the years from 1918 to 1922, in the midst of the civil war in Russia, the Bolsheviks implemented a system referred to as “War Communism” in which businesses and industries were nationalized from 1917 to 1921. The policy had a negative result in the economy and during 1916 to 1920, the industrial result declined significantly. Grain production in 1920 to 1921 severely dropped which led to wide famine that also claimed millions of lives. Rebellions and protests started; several sailors headed one of the most known uprisings in the naval base of Krohnstadt.~It was in the course of Russia’s Civil War that the Bolsheviks started what was called “War Communism”; it was an economic plan expropriating all businesses, implemented in 1917 until 1921. This plan resulted in the dramatic drop of the economy.  The production and also growing of crops from 1920 to 1921 were badly affected as well as its resulting shortage resulted in country wide famine and the death toll hit to 5 million. Riots and protests were everywhere; with the Krohnstadt rebellion being one of numerous uprisings led by Soviet sailors.

To keep power and avoid the economy from falling apart, Vladimir Lenin (1870-1924) suggested a New Economic Policy or the NEP. Under the NEP, trading was permitted and even production in the industrial and agricultural sectors. The peasants were still required to turn over a percentage of their output but any surplus were theirs to keep or even to sell for profit.

In stark departure from communist belief, farmers could rent land and employ laborers. The state started on an ambitious privatization program of small and also medium size enterprises, though it maintained control of the finance, transportation, heavy industry, and foreign trade sectors (the “commanding heights”, as they were referred to as during the time).

In 1921-2, Lenin re-introduced money to re-monetize the economy that’s consisted of barter, quotas, and centrally issued economic directives. Within lower than seven years, production in a lot of areas of the economy reverted to pre-revolutionary levels. Nor did the NEP die with Lenin. It continued for 4 years after his death in 1924.

The NEP had its own share of flaws.

NEP was characterized by inflation and the demand to cap the prices of non-agricultural goods. Peasants hoarded grain for speculation purposes. A black market in goods was made by Nepmen – private traders. Communist party General Secretary Joseph Stalin (1879-1953), reinstated agricultural production quotas in 1929, collectivized all arable land, and criminalized private trading in 1930. In 1928, he promulgated the first Five-Year Plan (1928-1932) and also central planning replaced market mechanisms. The NEP was dead.

A Look at The Violence Against Women Act

Approved by:

Senator Joseph Biden just announced his bid for the presidency; a candidacy which will certainly be embraced by the influential domestic violence lobby. As sponsor of the Violence against Women Act (VAWA), Senator Biden has won the cause of eliminating domestic violence and aligned himself with a very powerful feminist special interest. For a Democrat in the Senate, championing this cause is a political no-brainer. The question is will he risk the benefits of this political gravy train to admit this “Emperor” is not wearing clothes.

The domestic violence community is now a billion dollar industry, creating political fiefdoms of unprecedented power in our local communities. We have come to know domestic violence is at such epidemic proportions, that in our collective shame we have sanctioned a movement that has become cult-like in its power over our courts.

Each day, a few people turns into a target of this fake domestic violence, usually a very capable mother or father being given a restraining order in a few family court anywhere in this country. The complainants don’t even need to provide one piece of proof to support their complain yet the respondent needs to go through an extremely shameful process that even murderers and other criminals are not put through since they’re covered by the 6th Amendment.

Responding to a TRO is an arduous, humiliating, and expensive task. As a direct consequence, respondents are often separated from their children, suffer from depression, and exhibit indications of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Most of the falsely accused endure the emotional scars of never being vindicated.

Men are more likely to be wrongly accused and victimized by restraining orders although there are a growing number of female victims wrongfully served with restraining orders by abusive males. In a court case in San Francisco just lately, a woman was served a TRO despite her husband threw her down the stairs. Her clever husband claimed she was emotionally unpredictable and was afraid for his life and filing a restraining order was merely for his protection.

The topic of domestic violence is filled with complexities. It can’t be fixed by just one generic approach to all situations since family issues are unique and do not fit standard models. In case the statements are verifiable and supported with hard evidence, it’s only then the Violence against Women Act penalties and punishments should be used. Studies have shown that almost fifty percent of related cases don’t even meet the VAWA criteria and these cases must be subject to further evaluation and study before extreme measure are taken which will irreversibly ruin the members of the family. Additionally, there should be serious punishment to those who falsely accuse others or even their lawyers who aid them promote their wicked deeds to ensure that they could benefit from them.

Capital Hill should sanction the Violence Against Women Act, but with conditions that balance the system — a system that in some jurisdictions borders on fanatical. Senator Biden, we just can’t remain ignorant to the damage this legislation can cause innocent, gullible adults and kids swept up its tide wave.

America, please wake up!

Approved by:

To acquire the presidency in America, candidates should stir up the religious fervor of the voters (gay wedding/civil union) and then vocally (and in some situations visually) wear your (new) Evangelical beliefs on your sleeve. It once was candidate vs. candidate, after that party vs. party, big business vs. the common (wo)man, platform vs. platform, after that region vs. region, but now none of that matters as a new America has emerged, an America where the majority with a religious manifest regulations the minority with a secular agenda.

Religion has been the root of many conflicts and wars between nations and races throughout the course of history. Think of all the countries coping with power struggles between different religious factions such as Iraq or Yugoslavia, think of the Holocaust and how millions of Jews were murdered during the time of Nazi Germany, the reason of the African genocide, and the bitterly fought battles between Ireland and England eight hundred years ago. And now, we’re noticing the same happening in America. We have been separated by our own beliefs and ideals, with religion gaining in the majority. Splitting up of state and church has never been more argued than it is today.  All too soon, people in minority groups will face the same situations and possible persecution minorities in the past have faced as well. People would be converting left and right, not due to what they believe in the religion but because they want to be with the majority and they end up like those puppets of Bruce Schwartz, their actions being directed by another. There will be missionaries going from one house to the next similar to sales people offering their wares, claiming they’re on the righteous path and persuading you to join them.

The Constitution, particularly the First Amendment, is simply words written. What makes those words their power are the actions of the people of its country. With America and its people split up as it is today, how will it still hold true? Will it slowly change into an unbalanced and right wing rule? No one is sure but numerous fear that this may actually become an actuality in the 21st century, especially in the light of the issue around the previous presidential election.

In the presidential race back in 2004 that Republican George Bush won, 82% of those who voted stated that they made their choice dependent on their moral and religious beliefs.  Other issues similar to the state of the economy, the war happening in Iraq, concerns in education, energy, and also the environment were only secondary to that. Americans spoke and religion won out among the people more than any other concern. Our country is dealing with so many significant issues at the moment, does it make sense for people to turn to religion while managing these concerns? In all fairness, we must also ask those ourselves; can we not respect one another’s opinions even in case they’re on opposing sides? Can we not tolerate each other? Can we not give others the same respect and also treatment that we would like to receive ourselves? Whatever happened to the land of the free, our America, with our constitution’s clause of separating the state and the church?

Ask yourself this: Why are we needed to swear to tell the truth on the Bible while in court but the Ten Commandments isn’t to be put on view in our federal buildings?  What is in store for our future? Time will tell, together with the actions of the President.
