Stratford-upon-Avon is a wonderful market  town in the West Midlands region of England in the U. K. which is enormously well-liked by tourists. In the main Stratford is extremelywell known for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare and although nearly all of customer sights in Stratford-upon-Avon have something to do with the famous poet and playwright there are many other reasons to take a holiday in the town.

Located 147km from London, the capital of England, Stratford-upon-Avon is the best place to watch one of William Shakespeare’s plays especially in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Even though the town tends to get busy with visitors it is still a amazing place to visit.

The town features a huge selection of Elizabethan and Jacobean structures and in places such as Sheep Street and Henley Street are found those black and white half-timbered dwellings and other buildings. Henley Street is most well known for being where you will see Shakespeare’s Birthplace, however it is also a superb shopping precinct. The oldest house (still lived in) in Stratford is located on Sheep Street. The Shrieves House is believed to be the house in which Oliver Cromwell stayed in before the 2nd battle of Worcester but, sadly, there is little evidence to prove the theory.
