Grindtime – Farnum vs E-Dub

Despite the short of attendee cooperation, this was a dope rap battle. E-Dub and Farnum mutually brought terrific techniques and troublesome delivery. E-Dub, out of Grindtime Georgia, has a very individual voice, and nice wordplay. Farnum, is the youngest MC in the league at 16, and ever since we saw him in those Chop Shop days, he’s been getting stronger. E-Dub started it off and right away his delivery was certain. He had a nice line about Farnum only MC Battle in the Florida, so he’s “stuck in the ozone like the stratosphere.” His killer line from the first was: “Just because you hate-e, doesn’t mean you’re groundbreaking.” Farnum didn’t hold back in his first either. He had a nice line about him having to battle E-Dub, because there was no available competition, so it was “double or nothing.” He had a genuinely good scheme in the first about URLtv, and how he’s more regarded by the musicians that Dub wants to be like. Dub’s second was all about the wordplay. He had a nice twist on “add a lesson/adolescent” and the “homicide/homo side” line was strong. He had a significant line that the crowd definitely slept on: “It’s ironic that you’re repping 727, like you’re the heir to its throne, cause the only 16 you could get to add up, is by adding your area code.” Kap got even a little mad that no one reacted to that one, ha. Farnum 2nd was bloodthirsty. His scheme about the NY division turning on Jaze was great. His “triple double” line was great. And his, “smoking dub-cant even catch a career high” was berserk. The Roosevelt-John Adams line was a little bit of a stretch, but he got it back it with a good little impromptu line about E-Dub nose being like a parrot, so its obvious why he repeats all of the schemes that his opponents have already used. His 2nd round was just tough. The third was okay for Dub. He had a good line about changing Farnums name back to Lil cause he’s going to give him another “L”. Farnum’s third was all about his schemes and his creativity. His “car in the ghetto” idea was nice, dubs missing and theres only Brixx. His final N-word scheme was ill too, just really thought out. This was a outstanding battle from Grind Time and we hope to see more to come.
