Don’t Vote For The Republicans

It is frightening to me that polling shows the GOP possibly winning majorities in the House & Senate 2010 midterms. I do not understand how people’s memories could possibly be so short. Do they not remember the mess that Bush left us with in January of 2009?

And it’s not just that the Republican President Bush left us a huge mess, it’s that the Republican Party has made a calculated decision to obstruct everything President Obama and the Democrats in the House and Senate have attempted to do in order to clean up the huge mess.

The GOP has put their own political fortunes in front of the needs of the United States time and time again since Obama took office. They have constantly obstructed progress while also spreading a huge amount of lies about the Democrats. And now American voters are thinking about rewarding them for it? It’s unthinkable!

When will people turn off the nonsense of the Fox News propaganda network and start taking a close look at what the GOP wants for the future of the US.

I would like to write that it is just a return to the policies of George W. Bush because that would be awful enough. But it’s actually far worse than that. By the standards of the far right wing Republican Party of 2010, President is a “liberal.”

The GOP agenda for next year when they hope to control the Senate and the House include the following five things:

1. Privatize Social Security. What’s the point of Social Security if it’s not secure?

2. Destroy Medicare. The GOP hated Medicare when it got started in the ’60s and they still hate it today.

3. Extend the George W. Bush tax cuts for the rich that had a big hand in the destruction of our country’s economy and greatly increased the deficit.

4. Repeal the 17th amendment. For some insane reason they think that citizens shouldn’t have a right to vote for their own Senators.

5. Begin baseless “investigations” into the Obama administration. I am not even joking, they have already said they plan on starting investigations on anything and everything as soon as they get a majority. What makes this most ridiculous is that the Democrats never investigated any of the real crimes of President Bush, but the Republicans are threatening to investigate the made up crimes of President Obama.

It is because of this scary right wing agenda that I strongly support every single Democratic nominee running for congress in 2010. Whether it be Congressman Rick Boucher in Virginia’s 9th District or any other Democratic Congressman or Senator running against the Tea Party Republicans. It’s certainly not that the Democrats are perfect; they’re not. It’s that the Republican Party in the Tea Party era is really dangerous to the future prospects of the US. We’re in too precarious a spot to allow these folks get any kind of real power.

Possibly the most disturbing thing about a possible Republican win in the midterms is that it probably would give the likes of Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich, and the rest of the Likely 2012 GOP Presidential Candidates momentum.
