Well, those clever people at Pixar have surpassed themselves this time!
Following the incredible success of Toy Story and Toy Story 2, some may have questioned the wisdom of making a third film. Our concerns were unfounded.
Cinematically brilliant, exciting, funny and poignant, Toy Story 3 excels in all areas and does not disappoint on any level.
In it we meetour old friends Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Ham the pig, Mr Potato Head and Slinky Dog, all heading for their final adventure. We also encounter some new characters including Barbie and Ken and ‘Big Baby’.
The story in brief:
Andy is getting ready to go to college and after sifting through his effects, decides to take Woody (our hero) with him as a memento of his childhood. His other beloved toys, he plans to keep and puts them in a bag, ready to be stored in the attic. Sadly, an error is made and they inadvertently get taken to The Sunnyside Daycare Centre.
Initially, the toys are overjoyed as their belief is that they are to be played with once again by eager children. Woefully, it becomes apparent that the youngsters at the centre are not as gentle as Andy and that the toys already at the centre are not as friendly as first thought.
One of the characters, Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear is down right sinister.
Thankfully, Woody had seen where the toys had been taken and hatches a plan to help them escape.
Huge fun all the way, but have a box of tissues handy.
Well done to all at Pixar. As you sit celebrating at your office desks, a well deserved slice of mutual admiration is in order, together with a pat on the back for you all.
