4th of July Fireworks in D.C.

Washington, D.C. is the perfect location to spend a memorable Fourth of July this year. The city comes alive with its historic architecture and rich patriotic history on this special vacation. The day will be action packed with events ranging from parades to a brilliant fireworks display. The day begins with The Independence Day Parade at 11:45a.m. which runs along Constitution Ave. from 7th-17th St. The parade will feature floats, marching bands, musical performances and more. Then continue on to The National Archives Museum which is offering a special family program centered around the Declaration of Independence from 10a.m. to 9p.m. The White House Visitor Center is also offering a variety of crafts, games and activities to observe the nation’s birthday form 9a.m.-3p.m. A number of concerts will also be taking place on the 4th of July including one on the Washington Monument Grounds which will begin at 6p.m. The Capitol Fourth Concert will be taking place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building from 8-9:30p.m. and  includes  the amazing musical talent of the National Symphony Orchestra and several renowned pop artists which will be followed by a breath-taking fireworks display over the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pool around 9p.m.  

Other locations to watch the fireworks in the greater D.C. area include viewings at the famous National Harbor and Gaylord National Resort in Maryland which features a full-fledged fireworks display and festival beginning at 5p.m. Tickets are required so be sure and visit their website www.gaylordhotels.com/Gaylord-national/ for more information.  OnBoard Tours operates the Gaylord National shuttle service between Washington DC (the Old Post Office and Union Station) and National Harbor.  

The Six Flags America in Mitchelville, Maryland celebrates 4th of July right with a fireworks show spectacular  along with some live music and activities for the entire family.

The Annapolis City Dock in Annapolis, Maryland is hosting a Fourth of July parade where the Naval Academy Concert Band will be performing before the fireworks begin theirgraphic launch. Follow the parade down Main Street to the City dock to watch the colorful lights explode over the water.

A beautiful view of the fireworks taking place over National Mall can be viewed from the Marine Corps  Memorial or along The Potomac River in Arlington, Virginia.
