Canon SD880 Powershot — Compact and Feature-Rich

Family gatherings, weddings, graduations, vacations in Paris or Hawaii — they are all marvelous occasions for taking dozens of photos, but you don’t have a proper camera!  You’re looking for good photos, that are worth printing or emailing, which requires a decent camera. You want something you can grab at a moment’s notice, and take the picture without thinking about how the camera is set. I’d like to tell you a bit about the Canon SD880 Powershot, because it may be just what you’re looking for.

Since a camera can’t be much use unless you actually have it available, size and weight are important considerations; the SD880 Powershot fits comfortably in a pocket or small camera pouch. Often people get self-conscious if they know they’re being photographed, so you can slip the wrist strap on and conceal the SD880 in your palm you can take loads of easy snaps. That makes it easy to take candid photos at family gatherings without making people self-conscious. This works when you’re traveling abroad or just on a day trip, too; get those snaps of great landscapes or local sights on the fly.

With Canon’s SD880 Powershot it’s possible to take lovely photos without the need for professional equipment, because it has many features normally found on their larger cameras. A professional photographer, needing a compact camera for some situations might well select the SD880 because of it’s features. This little model features a nice wide angle lens with optical image stabilization technology — it helps you get a clear picture even if you can’t hold the camera perfectly still. A 4x zoom lets you get close to your subject. For those who like to blow up their favorite pictures the 10.0 megapixel resolution is a great feature — you won’t lose quality.

Nineteen presets on a dial make it easy to get various types of pictures just right with the SD880 Powershot. You can enjoy beach pics, night scenes (including fireworks), produce panoramas using stitch assist, take snaps of sports events with motion detection, and much more.

All this adds up to a choice that fits in very nicely if you’re looking for a pick-up-and-go camera that will give you first-rate photos and ease of use in a very compact size. One small drawback is that the mode setting dial turns rather easily, so you might end up changing your setting by mistake, and a number of people find the button arrangement frustrating. These are not big issues, though, when you consider that the Canon SD880 Powershot is a well-designed camera and has been given very good reviews from users.
