So many girls have tattoos today!.  Who would have envisaged that there would be so much demand today for tattoo designs amongst women.  What is influencing this trend and how can women find tattoos to suit their individual needs?

For centuries, tattoo pictures have generally been associated with men.  Whilst there are exceptions, such as tribal tattoos, girls in Western societies have tended to keep away from this these tattoos.  Instead they have dressed themselves in jewellery and make-up.  That has all changed in the last 10 years especially.  Why has this occurred ?

I really have no proof upon which this hypothesis is formed, so I hope that you will comment on this article to give your own points of view.  Regardless , here is my attempt…

With the exception of the past 2 years or so, we have all experienced growing economies.  Unemployment has been at historically low levels and families have enjoyed the accumulation of wealth not experienced in previous generations.  So affordability is not much more likely than it used to be.  However, this is not the main reason for the escalating demand for ink tattoos for girls.

Before hypothesising how wealth creating has stimulated to the trend, let us explore another common trend.  Never before have parents been stronger advocates for their children than in this generation of parents.  What I mean by this is that kids have become the centre ofthe world for parents.  Now I accept that children have always been significant, what I am expressing is that parents have never given as much time and resources to their children as the current generation.  So what?  How has this led to the adoption of tattoos amongst women?

The answer lies in the childhood experiences of the girls that are now acquiring tattoos.  They have been the centre of attention for so long and because of the unprecedented wealth of their parents, they have become the ‘me’ generation.  It is all about me.  

Whereas in hard times people come together in communities to provide help each other, in good times there is not the need for this banding together.  People are more inclined to want to be individuals and to convey their individualism.  They want to be different and to differentite themselves visually.  They also have a willingness to express their individualism by conveying what is important to them, what they stand for in other words.  What better way to convey these views and to prove an allegiance to certain values, beliefs and groups than with a tattoo?

Now I know that I have taken some license with this argument.  As previously stated mentioned previously~mentioned before~stated before}, this is a personal perspective only.  I am happy to hear other points of view.

Where there is growing demand, there is growth in supply (remember economics 101). There is no requirement for any kind of official certification given to tattoo artists that completes their training.
There are no formal schools, and no certificates . There are many tattooists’ out there that are tattooing without the benefit of any kind of training. This is perfectly above board providing that they are licensed in their state.

All tattoo shop should have an autoclave sterilizer.  The autoclave is basically a pressure cooker which is used mainly in the medical field for sterilizing medical equipment . To fully sterilize the equipment the autoclave must reach and keep a temperature of at least 246 degrees for 30 minutes for the equipment to be completely sterilized. Steam and chemical are the major autoclave sterilizers. Steam is the acceptable one when it comes to tattooing. All steam autoclaves are acceptable to use when sterilizing the equipment. Ask to see the autoclave, is it clean? If the staff were not happy to show it to you or were evasive, think again about getting your tattoo here. Autoclaves should be regularly tested to make sure that they are working properly. Request to see the results of their up-to-date spore test. These results should be no more than 2 months old. If you are advised that a pressure cooker designed for canning food is satisfactory for sterilization used tattoo equipment, this is not true . They do not reach the necessary temperature or pressure that is necessary to destroy all blood borne pathogens effectively. Medical sterilizers are bigger and are designed specifically for killing bacteria and other pathogens. Do not trust a non-professional tattooist using a kitchen pressure cooker.

In some places , it is not a legal requirement  to use new needles. If used needles are correctly autoclaved , it is legally acceptable to use them, but this is absolutely not advisable ! The brand new needles colour are bright silver, they should not be stained with ink or have a brownish tinge . Used needles, if properly sterilized , can very well be perfectly safe. But , there is also the risk of the needle tips becoming dull after use on a previous customer . This can seriously damage your skin when used.  Needles should not be removed from the autoclave bag until you are sitting there and they are ready to start your tattoo. Ask to see the sterile confirmation logo on the bag itself.

Although this care is more for the safety of the tattoo artist, no one wants an infected tattoo artist working on them. If the tattooist does not take enough care about their own safety, they are unlikely to be concerned about yours.tandard medical latex gloves (or some other type of medical grade protective gloves) should always be used. Look for these points: Do the gloves fit properly? If the gloves are too big or too small, the risk of either poking a hole in the gloves or tearing them is very possible. It only takes is a pinhole to run the risk of cross contamination.

Anything used on you should be thrown away . This includes water, ink and ointments. Any ink that is unused should NOT be returned to the original container! It is contaminated with blood, and should be disposed of.  Those little cups called “ink caps” should be used to put just enough ink in for YOUR tattoo. Any leftovers should be thrown away. The same applies to the water and ointments used.
Note:- Many tattoo artists use deodorant to create a darker impression of the transfer copy on your skin before they begin tattooing. This is a very effective method, but the artist should never use the deodorant stick directly on your skin. It has been used by other clients. Instead, the deodorant should be wiped onto a tissue, and the tissue placed on your skin. You should never have contact with the deodorant stick. If they use the stick in this way with you they have probably done the same with many others before you.

 Is The Tattoo Artist Hepatitis B Vaccinated?
This is not common practice yet. Many studios, although important, do not practice this safety measure. It does not indicate that they are not safe but practicing this does put a client’s mind at ease . If they are not vaccinated, just be sure they are following the other safety procedures to ensure cross-contamination.

This is more important now because infection and disease are spreading more rapidly , and unsafe tattooing is creating the necessity for tattooists to be vaccinated against Hepatitis for their own protection and for the protection of their future clients. 

Should the tattoo artist claim to have had the vaccination get them to show you a medical record of it. If they cannot they probably have not had it, if they have forgotten all they have to do is call their doctor for a copy of the vaccination record. I have had a Hep B and your doctor holds all the details should you need them. The information is easy to access. Nowadays , it is advisable that everyone is vaccinated against this disease. You may want to make sure that you are vaccinated before you have a new tattoo.

Always monitor any changes in health after you have had your tattoo, if it looks like there is an infection seek professional medical help .

• You should learn step by step and should gradually improve your playing because you can not learn and play Greig’s piano concerto in a minor from the day one of your learning so don’t be very specific about it and try learn in small pieces and learn only one piece at a time.
• Practicing piano all day long is not a sensible thing because it is meant for fun not to trouble you.
• Practicing at a fast pace is not going to do any good for you it will add pressure and stress to you.
• Repetition sometime builds frustration. Always bring some changes in your practice.
