Then, follow these guidelines .

1.  Take care of your health.  Good eating and good sleeping habits are important.  So is daily exercise.  And, seek out medical treatment without delay if you feel ill.  Making up missed classes in high school isn’t too tough, but an illness which causes you to miss more than a class or two in college will put you way behind.

2.  Don’t ever forget that you have come to college to get an education and earn a degree .  That means you need to put academics before social life.  Enjoy college life, but get your work done first…no exceptions .

3.  Don’t get too involved in extra-curricular activities.  Large universities offer as many as 600 clubs and organizations.  Pick one or two as a freshman, and branch out  in  future years if you wish.  But, don’t overdo activities or your grades will suffer.

4.  Meet and befriend new people .  Keep your old friends and get back to your hometown o once in a while , but move forward with your life.  Make new friends, and build a life for yourself at college .  Branch out, even if you aren’t entirely  comfortable doing so at first.
