Contrary to what many people think, being an actor is not necessary for you to end up having a role in a film.  Acting after all is only one of the aspects required for completing the production of any film. There may be a very talented cast assembled for a certain film but if there are no individuals to hold the cameras, to build the sets, to write the script, to raise funds, and to direct, there will be no movie made. Even the most famous award-winning actors cannot ignore the importance of the people who do film production jobs.  The actors just act but it is the crew behind the scenes that capture the action and turn it into a movie.

Therefore, if you want to make a career in the film industry and don’t know how to act, you can certainly make good in either one or two film production jobs needed. You may not be on screen but you can find your name in the ending credits list. And of course it’s not just seeing your name there, your bank account can grow with the promise of high pay. But, it does take careful preparation before you can end up with a job in film production. You may not need to attend a formal school though; there are online training courses offered in the internet.

Before enrolling in an online program, you need to determine first what particular task in filmmaking you would like to specialize on.  Most people would immediately want to try their hand on directing which is why it is significant for them to enroll in a course that’s directly related to it.  If you want a short cut to it, you still do the same thing.  After all, everything that you are to learn in a film directing course is sort of a preview for all the other film production jobs there are.

As soon as you complete the course, you should not expect to sit in a director’s chair too soon.  Even the top-rated directors had to go through all the other film production jobs at first. Some had to be cameramen, writers, and video editors first before they can be directors.  You might have to go through this too. This is an important learning stage, one that prepares you to be in control of movie production.
