Within this very short span of time, people appraise your visual – from your dress shirts to your shoes — and behavioral image from head to toe. You are then assessed in terms of your grooming and accessories, from your jewelry to the briefcase you’re holding.

Now, when it comes to jewelry, a good, but not flashy watch and a wedding band are the only accessories recommended to wear. Too much jewelry would make the loan officer think how much you spend on fashion and fun. Thus, jewelry designer Wendy Brandes said dressing conservatively should be observed.

In three seconds, you are judged according to the following cases – First, if you appear to be of comparable business or social level, you are considered suitable for further interaction. Next, if you appear to be of higher business or social status, you are admired and cultivated as a valuable contact. And lastly, if you appear to be of lower business or social standing, you are tolerated but kept at arm’s length, Dabney said.

To make a good impression about yourself and give you a look of power of success, Sandy Dumont, Image Architect, Corporate Image Consultant told us that it is recommended to wear suits with dark color, preferable navy blue, and white mens dress shirts with a power tie.

 As humans, being judgmental is unavoidable, since it’s just one of the selfish nature of human. Especially in social and the corporate world, how you look would really matter more than words at a first glance. So, no matter how hard to try to recover any negative impression about you and your looks, it’s difficult to turn it the other way around. Thus, your goals would simply slip away from your fingers.
