Tattoos used to be quite taboo, but now with high profile celebrities showing off theirs, and with kids wanting more and more to rebel against society and their parents, then they are becoming increasingly common and losing much of their stigma. Stars have to be one of the most simple designs you can get, yet they are beautiful too. You can get a few stars to highlight an area of your body, or you can have them woven in with other patterns to form a more complex design. The hip is a popular place to have some stars, or you could have a line down each side of your stomach to highlight that area.

Dragon tattoos are hugely popular, both in the western style with the big fangs and huge wings, and in the snake-like eastern style too. Dragons are supposed to be wise and powerful creatures which is why I think that they are so popular in designs, plus obviously they look great and they can be trailed around your body to fit whatever space you like.

Tribal tattoos are simple and yet bold, and they are more popular at the moment with guys than gals. As they are simple then less can go wrong with them, if you have something complex then by the end of it sometimes a face or animal etc can end up drawn badly which ruins it. They tend to symbolize power and strength because they look like the tattoos on warriors from hunter-gatherer tribes.

Flowers are quite like stars, you can use them singly to highlight an area or you can use lots of them and incorporate other elements to make a beautiful and complex design. As there are so many different types of flower, and as they all tend to be beautiful and colorful, then you are spoilt for choice if you want to get one of these. Probably the most popular flower design at the moment is the beautiful cherry blossom tattoo.

The final design on our list is the cross, which remains popular even though fewer and fewer people go to church. I don’t know if it is because even people who don’t believe in a god still don’t know what happens to us when we die, or whether it symbolizes some other kind of belief they have, but this is a popular choice a the moment.
