Just as most organizations must meet the every shifting  technological innovation and thebusiness enterprise necessities of the future. Wait it has no future. It’s best  days are behind it.
The US Postal service is in a huge bind.

Who is going to bail them out and pay the retirement benefits?  You,  me, the Government which is you, me?

The Post Office has currently been bailed out by you, me.
It is supposed to be an monopoly:  Title 18 ( I.83.1696 ) says that “Whoever establishes any exclusive express for the conveyance of correspondence or packets” can be fined and jailed. An additional law ( 39.I.6.606 ) states which any letter sent by illegal means~suggests} can be seized (stolen) by the government. It is immune from  antitrust action  and felony liability.

Postal mail volume is down over 12.6 % in contrast with last year, and many postal supervisors merely don’t possess adequate work to retain all rpc_6_rpc busy. But union guidelines prevents managers from laying off workers: a current settlement with the unions, in fact,  stops the Postal Company from even reassigning them to various facilities that might use them.

UPS, FedEx havechanged the way business send packages. Instead of postal mail,  intelligent firms send orders, order acknowledgements, sales orders, purchase orders, invoices and statements by the internet, lowering their paper and mail costs.

Fax machines and the web are creating the post office absolete. PDF’s sent by the world wide web produce copies as excellent as the original.

When and if these folks produce a color Fax machine we canshut the casket on the post office.

This is not heading to occur in a single day but has going it’s downhill spiral.

Note: I wrote this article before the post office decided to close 2000 offices.
