Credit Card Apply Process: Online vs Offline

It can be quite a hassle when trying to apply for a credit card in person. With technology, filling out the credit card saves a lot of time and effort. The convenience of going to a secure website to apply is second to none. If you have ever applied for a credit card in person and filled out their form or mailed it back it could take forever to know if you have been approved or not. By applying online, approval notifications can be received in a matter of minutes.

Knowing the convenience of applying for a credit card online is important but that is only part of the strategy in getting approved for a good credit card

Make sure to check your credit score with the 3 credit scoring agencies: Experian, Equifax, Transunion to get a good idea of where your credit stands before actually applying for a credit card. Is there a strong reason for checking your credit report? Credit card companies may look at any of the credit bureaus when they receive your application. Within the credit report you will see what details the reporting bureaus have on you. Sometimes reports show inaccurate information to which you can dispute and have it removed from your report. You can actually have these records removed yourself if you bring it up with the credit reporting agencies. If they are not able to verify the delinquency then it will be removed automatically. Taking this extra step will ensure a better chance of approval when applying for the a credit card.

Do Not “Guesstimate” On Your Credit Card Application

Information such as name, address, phone number, income will be requested like any other credit card application form. Some applications may request information on previous addresses that only you may know. Use the data from your tax return / paycheck when the application requests your monthly or annual income. Some credit card issuers may sometimes request additional verification on your other credit accounts if you have any. Have your bills handy as they may need to have you input the name of other creditors and / or current balances on the accounts.

There are quite a number of credit cards with rewards when selecting a credit card to apply for

The perks that some credit cards offer make them even better: Airline miles, reward points, gas rewards, gift certificates, etc.

Instant approval credit card offers are also available giving you fast approvals instead of waiting days or weeks with offline approval processes. A credit card instant approval will save you time and the high approval rate makes it easier for those who have bad credit.

Select two or three credit card offers that stand out to you.

Apply for the credit card that offers the most of what you are looking for. Credit card applications denied? Don’t worry. It is not the end of the world. You may need to take some more time to build your credit up. A good amount of time to wait before you actually try to get a new card is between 6-12 months.

Remember that the credit card company verifies every little detail of your application so accuracy is paramount

Before actually submitting your credit card application do one last check to make sure that there are no errors in the details. Even a misspelling of your name can result in the credit card company returning a disapproval of your application.
