Learning the G major involves familiarizing oneself with the major and minor scale. To do this, start with slow or basic methods and progression. When you utilize the notes in the 12 bar progression, you will hear blues.

You find that the foundation of learning how to play the instrument is in the chord progression. It is therefore not sufficient familiarizing oneself with the music theory and how to read music.

However, the most outstanding thing about this is that the structure is so loose and rules so sparse such that having learnt the format, one can improvise quite easily.
