The keyboard or piano is a flexible musical instrument with which you can play different types of music. One of the oldest pieces of music which can be played on the instrument is blues. It also happens to be one of the oldest music genres and therefore those interested in learning how to play a piano should first learn the blues piano chords.

The first thing you need to know is that in order to get a chord you have to play three or more notes together and this is how the basis for a harmony is created. One thing that is typical of blues is that it arouses peoples feelings no matter the kind of music they like.

In order to play the twelve bar one should first learn the three piano chords which are F major, C major and G major. The phrase major stands for happy and bright music. To play F major, one is required to move his or her fingers in a triangular shape. This chord consists of the white keys F C and A.

For C major, one should find the white key C. This can be found at the left of any sets of two black keys. It consists of C G and E and should be played either to the right or left using the alternating finger. G major on the other hand consists of the three white keys which are G B and D.

Learning the G major involves familiarizing oneself with the major and minor scale. To do this, start with slow or basic methods and progression. When you utilize the notes in the 12 bar progression, you will hear blues.

You find that the foundation of learning how to play the instrument is in the chord progression. It is therefore not sufficient familiarizing oneself with the music theory and how to read music.

For those who are musically skilled, they can be able to harmonize the basic structure using just any number of embellishments. As such the underlying doctrines for learning to play blues piano chords are the same as in any other form of learning. However, the most outstanding thing about this is that the structure is so loose and rules so sparse such that having learnt the format, one can improvise quite easily.
