It seems that each month, or even each week, different camera makers are coming up with the latest digital cameras to capture the interest of buyers. And you need to understand the workings of more and more digital camera specs before you feel confident enough to make a purchase And so after consuming several hours at the mall determining which among the various models is the finest digital camera for you; you finally settle on an eye-popping, candy-coloured 7 mega pixel portable camera with an expandable memory of up to 512 MB, SD hi-speed memory card, and 10x digital zoom that your family and friends will drool over.

So you march to the shopping mall carrying your savings, and proud that in a short while you will be the new proud owner of the best digital camera; however, you see a new display of an 8-mega pixel digital camera wrapped in a plastic clamshell with stereo surround and built-in mic, 22 scenic modes, and as high as 1G expandable memory. So you are not sure anymore about your previous choice. You let out a sigh as you continue to read the poster ad of this impressive gadget, which states that this camera in front of you has the most advanced technology among the other cameras in the market today. And since we always crave to hold in our hands the most hi-tech consumer gadget out there; you use your hard-earned cash (and maybe a few credit cards), to get this latest “best” digital camera. But then the feeling of euphoria you get from your purchase does not last for more than a few days, because after two months or so, there is some other “# 1 digital camera” in stores.

And so at this point, you really want to understand what particularly makes a digital camera, the top choice digital camera for you. Well, below are certain factors to consider when searching for the “most excellent digital camera” that is will suit you very well.

MEGAPIXELS RESOLUTION. One of the most  critical features of a digital camera that qualifies it for the best digital camera class is the value of its megapixels. The greater the mega pixels the better the actual photograph will come out. A mega pixel is equal to 1 million pixels. Or it might not be right to get the latest point-and-shoot digital camera when you’re serious about being a professional photographer. (Of course, you can use this type of camera for starters, but if you’re not a novice photographer any longer, you would not be interested in spending money in this kind of equipment.)

And lastly, the most pragmatic consideration in choosing the best digital camera to purchase is to choose the one that you will enjoy using, even if you are pushing a triple jogging stoller! Hence, the best digital camera is not necessarily those expensive and most advanced cameras, with lots of features if you don’t need them. Or if you’re not having fun using it, you will only leave it inside its box to gather dust only after a few weeks of use.
