There are camera makers that always seem to stand out from the rest. It’s often those who have been around for a long time and have the experience and resources to continue making advances in digital photography.

While there’s no apparent decline in the demand for feature rich digital cameras, there is a tremendous amount to choose from, and that level of competition in any industry means you, as the consumer, will benefit from companies trying to outdo each other for a greater slice of the market. If you’re in the market for something special, take a look at the following cameras. Also, you should definitely check out the GoPro, highly recommended. Here are some GoPro HD reviews.

The feature-rich PowerShot SD850 IS by Canon is a nice pocket size camera that falls into a mid-range price level. This ultra-small camera has plenty to offer when it comes to features including a 2.5 inch LCD screen display. Image stabilization is an excellent feature offered by this 8 megapixel camera as is the 4x zoom. Of course, moving on to the image process features like red-eye removal doesn’t hurt the status of this camera by any means. External memory cards are preferred by Canon. An SD card that is 32 megabytes comes along with the camera. Yes, you’ll want to upgrade as soon as possible but it will get you started.

For those that prefer a point and shoot camera, there is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20 This ultra compact camera has 14.1 megapixel resolution as well as built in flash and LCD. The LCD utilizes a matrix TFT technology. This camera does not have an optical viewfinder so you will use the 2.7 LCD display to frame and review your shots. To help compensate for shaking, there is also an optical image stabilization system.

Moving forward as quickly as possible, let’s take a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS5. What you’ll find with this pocket size megazoom camera is that it produces good pictures, albeit at slightly lowered ISO’s. With a decent complement of features, we think this camera is a decent alternative to other cameras on the market. This camera, which has 12.1 megapixels and an ultra wide lens, produces pictures with good image sharpness and quality. Also of value, you will be able to exert manual control. The zoom gets its mega from the 12X optical zoom capacity with a 25 mm wide angle lens. Because mega-zooms don’t have a viewfinder, you simply use the 2.7 inch TFT display. This ends our review of a few of the pocket size cameras available. If you’ve never used a digital ultra-compact camera, these would be good for testing out. With one of these cameras, you can produce decent quality photos. Last but not least, be sure to read this GoPro HD Motorsports review.
