Israel has mechanics in place to protect working women during pregnancy and during maternity leave.  This article, written by Israeli lawyers  ,  will look at some of the mechanics of these protections~.

1. The prohibition of firing pregnant women .

Israeli law provides absolute protection to employee dismissal due to pregnancy and childbirth related absences.  Israeli law prohibits an employer from dismissing a worker who is in a family way and not yet on maternity leave, provided that the employee has been employed there for at least half a year . Beyond that , Israeli law prohibits the dismissal of an employee while they are on maternity leave, and for a period of two months from the return from maternity leave.

2.  Absence from work while pregnant

A pregnant employee may miss employment while pregnant , if a doctor affirms that her medical condition while pregnant dictates it, and for medical testing or routine medical tests related to pregnancy.  These days are accounted for as sick leave days.

3.  It is forbidden to make pregnant women work overtime, or at night

In the case that an employer knows that the employee is pregnant, then after she enters her fifth month of pregnancy the employer is unable to force her work overtime, and if she objects – then the employer can’t make her work during the night shift.

4.  Prohibition to change a pregnant woman’s job or income scale

A pregnant woman can’t have her salary lowered or position changed because of the pregnancy .

5. Maternity Leave

Working women (or their husbands in their stead) are allowed to take maternity leave of one half year .  This time allotment many times is shortened by the new mother to 14 weeks because as of week – 15 of the maternity leave the woman  won’t be paid.  During maternity leave the parent (father or mother – whoever is taking the vacation ) can’t be employed elsewhere.  Also women are able to take seven weeks or less of the maternity leave period, at her sole discretion, prior to giving birth, and the rest will be used after having the child . Of course, a woman can finish her maternity leave earlier than 3 months with written assention from the doctor.

6. Maternity leave in case of multiple birth children

If a woman has a multiple birth she will be entitled to extend the maternity leave for up to twenty one days for every additional child.

7.  Birth money and employer contributions to employee funds

The woman on maternity leave is entitled to a monetary birth gift ~grant} from the National Insurance Institute.   While on maternity leave the employer has a duty to continue to pay pension fund checks on behalf of the woman provided the employee and / or the employer made payment of said funds earlier –  before the maternity leave.

8. Absenteeism after Maternity Leave

A woman who worked for at least a year at the same employer prior to the beginning of the maternity leave is able to be gone from work after maternity leave, for an additional number of months equal to one quarter of the number of months in which she worked before to the maternity leave, but not more than twelve months from the date of birth.  This additional time shall be deemed as unpaid leave,  and this time will not be counted towards other social rights which accrue by law over time.

America’s Tallest Flagpole is 200 feet tall, and located in Dorris City Park in Texas. Everything is huge in Texas! It was the local Lions Club challenge to instill pride and community volunteerism. On particular occasions they fly 60 feet by one hundred twenty ft Nylon American flags.

To even the least technically minded individual it somewhat is smart that very tall flagpoles require a extra complex support structure than small 10 ft residential flagpoles. Typically an aluminum flagpole will not meet the stress requirements on account of wind loads, and therefore a “flag tower” should be built.

Some years in the past the North Koreans constructed such a tower within the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in North Korea. This flagpole reached a height of 525 ft and has flown a  North Korean flag weighing 300 kilos.

Throughout a battle for the sky between the Koreas, the South Koreans initially added 330 feet to their flagpole flying a 330 pound flag, thus “teasing” the North Koreans. The North Koreans were fast to reply by countering this move by constructing a flag tower that just about reaches into space.

Interestingly, the 600 lbs (dry-weight) heavy North Korean flag is immediately taken down throughout rains, as the burden of the flag will increase dramatically, thus growing momentum (because the flags whips around at the top of the flag tower), thus growing the stress on the flag tower significantly.

Nevertheless, the claim made by reportedly the tallest tallest flagpole in the world situated in Kijong-dong has not been accepted (especially by rivals) unanimously. Taking a look at flagpoles particularly, the tallest flagpole on the earth is the Ashgabat flagpole in Turkmenistan.

The Ashgabat pole reaches up to about 436 ft in height and is king over the formerly record holding Aqaba flagpole in Jordan, which is 433 feet in height. Due to its location, the Aqaba flagpole might be seen from neighboring countries.

Doubt as regards to which flagpole shall be thought-about the tallest flagpole on the planet will fade away as 530+ ft flagpole in Azerbaijan is under construction. The Country Flag Sq. is near reaching its last height and status of being the tallest flagpole on the earth very soon. What’s next in the world of flagpoles?

In the early years of the founding of the United States of America, the snake grew to become an emblem of freedom from tyranny. Great Britain made a typical observe of sending its felons to the American colonies and Australia. There’s an estimate of about 50,000 total convicts despatched to the American colonies all through the 1700s, a lot of them political criminals.

In 1751, Benjamin Franklin, in a satirical essay in his Pennsylvania Gazette, proposed sending rattlesnakes to England to thank England for sending so many convicted felons to the colonies. Three years later, in 1754, Franklin created and printed the primary political cartoon: a snake reduce into eight pieces, representing the individual colonies, and wound in a way suggesting the American east coast. At the backside had been the words “Join or Die,” referring to a typical superstition that a dissected snake could live again if its sections were joined before sunset.

The cartoon was reprinted in newspapers all through the colonies, typically substituting “Join or Die” with “Unite and Live.” After the French and Indian Wars, England was awash in debt. The colonies appeared like the perfect place from which to boost the money to re-pay the debt, and the English government started a collection of small taxes designed to boost the needed revenue from the colonists. These acts increasingly frustrated and angered the American colonists.

In 1774, Paul Revere redesigned Franklin’s “Join or Die” snake as a masthead for his publication, The Massachusetts Spy. The snake, though nonetheless separated into eight parts, was stretched to nearly full length and seemed to be fighting a British dragon.

Within a yr, the image of the snake as a symbol of freedom from British tyranny had caught on everywhere in the colonies. Snakes have been printed on flags and banners, pins, buttons, and paper money. The type of snake depicted changed from a generic serpent to a timber rattlesnake, symbolizing the colonies’ means to strike back.

Probably the most well-known snake representations of early American historical past, all Gadsden Flags, portrayed a rattlesnake on a yellow field, the snake coiled, able to strike, and shaking thirteen rattles. Underneath the snake were the words, “Do not Tread On Me.”

It is believed that the first use of the “Don’t Tread On Me” snake portrayal was on the painted yellow drums of the Marines, who aided the Continental Navy in an try and capture two British ships loaded with gunpowder. Later, Christopher Gadsden, a colonel within the Continental Military, gave a “Do not Tread On Me” flag to Esek Hopkins, the commander-in-chief of the Navy, who used the flag as his private standard.

The Minutemen of Culpeper County, Virginia, used a version of the Gadsden Flag, including the phrases “Liberty or Death,” a quote from Patrick Henry, famous patriot and organizer of the Virginia Militia. The historical flags helprd shape the history of America.
