Are you interested in learning to Salsa dance? There are quite a few class=’posible_changer’ id=’spin_14′ onclick=’ShowSpinOptions(14)’>options out there for you: You could attend a pair’s class, you could attend a ballroom dancing studio, you could attend a free dance session at a local bar or community center, or you could consider renting or buying a salsa video.
There are pros and cons to every one of the above options. Let’s explore all of these pros and cons in order to see if you are the type of person who would benefit from a Salsa video.
Should you attend a couple’s class?
This is a fairly straightforward option. You find a partner, rather someone that you will feel comfortable dancing with, and you learn how to dance Salsa together. Pros to this method are that you call the shots. You normally arrange the times that you want to attend class. However, there may be more students in this scenario than in most of the others. Another con is that you will have to find a partner whereas in some of the other ways you may be able to dance with a instructor or by yourself if you cannot find a partner.
Attending A Ballroom Dancing Studio
This is very similar to attending a couple’s class. Ballroom dancing studios, such as Fred Astaire, etc. allow you to make arrangements to learn a certain style of dance at one class or multiple classes. Pros to this method are that you have the majority of control over when and how long you attend classes. If you are a nervous person, you will also find that attending a class in this way puts your mind at ease because you are the only students in the class. You also do not need to provide a partner, necessarily. A con to this method is the cost. Attending one of these studios and having private classes can be very expensive (and you do really get what you pay for – specialized instruction).
Attending A Free Dance Session or Workshop
These are a lot of fun. Often these sessions are put on in bars, community centers, or places with a cultural flair. Pros? They’re exciting and fun. They are fairly inexpensive or free entirely. A con to this method is that there are many, many people attending the sessions as well. Probably more people will be in this scenario than in any of the others. If you are nervous about learning or feel that you need some special instructions, this method isn’t right for you.
Buying or Renting a Salsa Video
The final option is to rent or buy a salsa video. You can rent these videos from the special interest sections at local video stores. You could also buy them online by searching for a program in your search toolbar or by searching Amazon, Ebay, etc. for dance videos. Pros to this method are the low cost. You pay one price and get to benefit from the instruction for as long as you wish. If you prefer to learn in the comfort of your living room, this is the method for you. You can also use it if you do not have a partner at the moment. You can learn your part and not have to worry about what you look like without a partner there. A con to this method is that it is impersonal. If you prefer talking and interacting with your teacher, this method probably isn’t for you.
After considering these various pros and cons, you can now decide if learning from a salsa video is right for you. If not, you can consider learning from these other methods. Whatever you choose, have fun and enjoy yourself!
